Lions and Tigers and Leopards, Oh My!

I cannot stop gushing about the Exotic Feline Rescue Center! This world class rescue facility is a safe haven for exotic cats who have endured unspeakable living conditions while in captivity and can now exist in safe, loving, and comfortable surroundings. The center provides the very best in veterinary care, food, and habitat. It has worked with the USDA, and the Indiana Division of Fish and Wildlife, as well as other organizations, to emancipate these majestic animals from abominable situations.

Founded in 1991 by Joe Taft, the EFRC has accommodated hundreds of exotic felines rescued from all over the country and has garnered international praise and visitors. The center is a registered 501(c)(3) that is volunteer driven and operates on monetary donations as well as building materials and food for it’s residents, contributed by local farms. There are also annual fundraisers to gather support for the center, including a motorcycle ride in September and silent auction in January.

The facility spans almost 110 acres and 200 cats call it home, including lions, tigers, leopards, cougars, bobcats, lynx, ocelots, and servals. The EFRC is open for tours from 10am – 5pm, seven days a week, and also offers overnight accommodations for those who desire a more in-depth experience with these magnificent creatures.
