Indianapolis Whiteriver Canal turns green on St. Patrick's Day

It is St Patrick’s Day. We know where we are, where are you? Here are some suggestions!

The key to longevity during a busy St. Patrick’s weekend is a breakfast packed with protein. Start at Mo’s Irish pub for Kegs and Eggs on the Northside of Indianapolis. If you need to hang out later in the day head to Claddagh Irish Pub Northside and get a personalized Guinness Irish Glass. (The Shamrock wings are AMAZING!) Let them know we sent you, the staff is amazing and they love to hear how you followed the rainbow to Claddagh Irish Pub.

The 35th Annual St. Patrick’s Day in downtown Indianapolis starts at 11:30 AM. The Parade is made up of high school bands, floats, catholic schools, Irish dancers, bag pipe & drum bands, Irish organizations and dignitaries and FREE to the public. Are you thirsty for more?

It is going to take the luck of the irish for you to make it through the morning parade, but it isn’t over yet! Let’s start plowing through Indy’s best St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

For the 19th straight year, the circle city turned the canal green! The Indiana dignitaries poured green dye into the canal and a few moments later the water ran lucky for St. Patrick’s day in Indianapolis.

In the wholesale district there is a secret bar crawl starting at 5 PM. Register at The Pub between 5pm and 10pm to get your wristband, cup, and map to get you the finest specials Saint Patrick’s Day has to offer if you decide to stay downtown! Make sure you tweet @indyintheloop to let us know you decided to crawl.

You know where the Loopers will be. Hit Broad Ripple for Connor’s annual tent party and find out where the queen of the bar hangs out, see leprechauns in their full attire and hit the best party in the city.

Those are our tips for the day to survive Indy on St Paddy’s. Look for a Looper out and about on the day of Luck, longevity and “spiritual” renewal.
